David Lebovitz's Book Signing at BabyCakes

One of my favorite food blogs to read is David Lebovitz who got his start as a pastry chef at Chez Panisse and has gone on to write several excellent cook books including a memoir with recipes called The Sweet Life In Paris.  He was doing the signing just around the corner from my apartment at BabyCakes Vegan Bakery.

The man himself.
A lot of people made a big fuss of getting their picture taken with him, and he was very gracious, one woman even had him hold a leather bag of hers for some undisclosed reason.  It's not really my style, it's embarrassing to me to meet someone you admire, what do I say?  Should I mention my blog? Etc... as it turns out he was very charming and easy to talk to, mostly we chatted about his recent trip crossing the Atlantic on the Queen Mary 2.

Yay! That's my fiance's head. In that last photo. Right behind the lady in pink.

David: When I first saw your note I had several simultaneous responses: OMG David Lebovitz visited my blog! Damn I should have proof read it better! It was a pleasure to meet you and next time you are in town, please let me know and I'll invite some local food types over and make dinner!
