Harvest At La Plaza

This is the peach tree at the community garden Neil and I belong to: La Plaza Cultural at 9th and C on the east Village.

In this week's La Plaza newsletter they sent along these pictures of the Peach harvest.

It's amazing to me that this can happen right in the middle of New York City; an old, otherwise ignored Peach tree that every year produces perfect fruit with not a drop of pesticides.

hope you get a good share of those sweeties.

Our friend's white peach tree came in couple of weeks ago and he HATES HATES HATES peaches (was his parent's tree). So we reaped the benefit and had a peach bonanza. 10 jars peach preserves. Dozen jars spiced pickled peaches (my favorite). Plus peach cobbler. Peach pie. Grilled peaches. And the only slushy drink I will admit to, Peach daiquiris!

OMG I am so jealous! Pickled Peaches, gotta try some of those. I just made Peaches and Cream Ice Cream substituting out the vanilla with cognac!
