It is with great sadness that I have to announce that my favorite Mexican restaurant in Williamsburg, Bonita, that served only locally sourced and butchered meats has closed due to a disagreement with their landlords. Rumor has it they are closing their Greenpoint location as well. Quell Drag.
Neil and I went out to Williamsburg Sunday to have dinner, I was jonesing for some meat and as you know won't eat mystery meat, which is to say meat that isn't traceable to a farm not a factory and preferably a local farm. A very nice man with his baby daughter stop to chat with us about what went down and why this always busy place with great food was all of a sudden shuttered. Seems that landlords in Williamsburg are realizing they can be just as greedy and unreasonable as the ones in Manhattan and after an diagreement with the owners of Bonita doubled their rent.
Luckily for us the owners have several others restaurants to go to, like Diner and Marlow & Sons.
