So the other day I was about to descend into the Grand Street subway station, which is on a very busy strip of Grand street, filled with Chinese grocery stores, fish mongers, butchers, a play ground, a park and a lot of people, when I noticed everyone on the street was looking up. There, on a bare branch in very plain sight, was this huge Hawk slowly picking his way through the intestines of some rat (looked too small to be a squirrel). Such a majestic big bird, I've seen a few of them in the city, but usually you seem them swoop down then disappear to eat somewhere in peace, not this guy. He seemed totally unfazed by the attention.
