I've been to the Tonle Sap, which is in the north of Cambodia near the Angkor ruins and the town of Siem Reap. What he doesn't mention is how jeopardized life on the Tonle Sap is because of climate change and Chinese interference. It's also interesting to note that the people who live on the lake are Vietnamese and roundly despised by most Cambodians. It's a fascinating place, the lake functions like a bellows emptying out and filling up with the seasons.
There's a passenger boat from Phnom Penh that goes up to Siem Reap and back, but he doesn't run in the dry season because the river is too shallow...I want to go back so badly...
Also from the Guardian.uk
It wouldn't let me embed so here's the link.
