CSA's - Have You Signed Up Yet?

Last year I had a wonderful experience with the Paisley Farm CSA. "CSA" stands for "community supported agriculture" and these organizations give you the opportunity to buy a share in a local farm so that every week of the growing season you get whatever is ripe, fresh and ready from the fields! Last year, when I did the math, it ended up being around $24 a week for an abundance of ever changing, seasonal goodies.

This year a new CSA has started up even closer to my home, the aptly named Lower East Side CSA, but it has already sold out! If you are looking for a CSA in your neighborhood Just Food has set up a great site that can help you locate one.

Don't wait! Time is running out and a lot of these CSA's are already full! The Jimmy's 43 site for Paisley Farms still has a few shares left so if you are in or near the East Village don't postpone - join up today!

All the info is here. Download the PDF. It will tell you everything you need to know to get started. A full share costs $550 for the season.

My first CSA box

I’m so glad we joined a CSA! The produce from Paisley Farm is picture perfect (as you can see in the video) and tastes even better. Ditto the coffee.

The important fact not included in the video is what a good value it is. With about 22 weeks of food it works out to $22.72 a week for a bounty that you couldn’t buy anywhere else for the price.

Join a CSA today!
