The Cove

The cruel slaughtering of dolphins is so upsetting to me I am not sure I will be able to go see this, just the trailer is upsetting. It is, however, very important that the message get out there.

The other night over dinner a vegetarian said to me that her real reason for not eating pork was because pigs are sentient beings, in other words, damn smart. Well dolphins are even smarter and I find it mind boggling how cruel we can be to these magnificent animals. It reminds me of the cruel people who kill gorillas for "bush meat" in Africa. Sure if you are starving and there is no other option, maybe, MAYBE, as a last resort, but otherwise this truly is barbaric.

Another Movie about how F*!@ked We Are or Apocalypse Soon

Reading my daily Grist I came across the review of the new depressing documentary about how we're destroying the planet called The Great Squeeze. Claire Thompson who wrote the review basically says this movie just tells us what we already know and is a bit broad in it's scope.

Here's the trailer and you now have the link to their site so you can make up your own mind.

For me I think it's important that this information gets out there and even if a mode of doing so is theatrically flawed, the more we talk about it the better chance we have of making meaningful change.
